Animal originated suture twisted filament, absorbable brown color.
Obtained from the thin intestine serous layer of a healthy bovine free of BSE and aphtose fever.
Because it is an animal originated material the tissue reactivity is relatively moderated.
Absorbed by fagositosis in approximately 70 days.
The thread keeps its tensile strength between 14 and 21 days, the patientis factors can make such tensile strength times vary.
Color code: Ochre label.
Frequently used in tissues that have easy healing and that do not require permanent artificial support.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Since its a natural origin suture, it should not be used when the tissue support for an extended period of time is needed.
WARNING
Caution most be taken when used in ederly, malnourishedor deficient immunology system patients, in wich the critical cicatrization period of the wound may be delayed. Knowing these factors, the surgeon can use it upon his7her discretion.

CONSIDERATIONS WHAT TO DO


YES Handling the surgical gut only when wet.
YES Stretching the surgical gut immediately after taking out of the envelope.
YES Stretching the surgical gut, the pulling should be uniform, firm and only a soft pull.
YES Straightening the suture and needle holding the thread approximately 2 inches (5 cm) from the joint and the
Distalend of the needle.
YES Humidifying the surgical chromic gut when the material has dried; Humidifying it only in a saline solution or in sterile water for not more than 4 to 6 seconds, just before giving it to the surgeon.

NO Exposing the surgical gut to an unnecessary stress, twisting or hard pulling the thread.
NO Passing the gloved fingers on the surgical gut thread while stretching it to remove the memory.
NO Pulling the suture-needle joint.
NO Dipping the surgical chromic gut in solution for more than 6 seconds.
NO Placing or putting the suture on gloved fingers; Neither to pass it through a needle hole or any other sharp edge.
NO Pressing the surgical gut with instruments such as hemostats or needle supports, etc.
