Product Description

Hospital Equipment Absorbable Suture Polyglycolic Acid (PGA) Mobility Aid Surgical Suture

ABSORBABLE SUTURES ITEM
Polyglycolic Acid (PGA)
POLYGLYCOLIC ACID
(Absorbable Suture)
Synthetic absorbable multifilament braided suture violet color.
Made of polyglycolic acid with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate coating.
The tissue reactivity in microscopic form is minimum.
The absorption is made by hidrolytic progressive action completed between 50 and 70 days.
The material holds approximately 75% of its tensile strength by tha end of the two weeks and 50% by tha third week.
Color code: Violet label.
Frequently used in tissue coaptation ties and ophthalmic procedures.

This foregoing results in an adequate alignment regarding its molecular structure providing the following benefits:
High tensile stength.
Excellent handling.
Low tissue reaction.
Predictable absorption rate.
Firm and safe Knotting.
Gage within the U. S. P.
Safe closure of the tissue up to their complete cicatrization.
It does not have collagen proteins, antigens or pyrogenous agents, its absorption is through hydrolysis, thus providing a low tissue reaction.

When implanted in the tissue, the Polyglycolic Acid has a minimum tissue reaction, on a microscopic basis, as well as formation of connective tissue around the suture. This is comparable to other absorbable synthetic suture of Polyglycolic Acid; However, our Atramat Polyglycolic Acid offers a predictable absorption rate and high tensile strength above the USP standard, thus providing an artificial support to tissue during the critical cicatrization period. The absorption is made through progressive hydrolytic action completed in approximately from 50 to 70 days. The tensile strength is held in approximately 75% at the end of the second week an 50% on the third week.

RECOMMENDATIONS
As most of the threaded suture materials, it is recommended to make a square knot with 2 or 3 additional bownots and to leave the ends of the knot of 2 or 3 mm long according to the surgical circumstances and to the experience Surgeon.

INDICATIONS
It is indicated in all surgical procedures, provided that the absorbable sutures are recommended. These include:
General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Ophthalmic Surgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedics, etc.
Caution must be taken when used in elderly, malnourished or deficient inmunology system patients, in wich the critical cicatrization period of the wound may be delayed.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Since it is an absorbable suture, it should not be used when the tissue extended support is needed for an indefinite
Period of time.
Note: Knowing these factors and the characteristics, benefits and limitations of the Atramat Polyglycolic Acid (similar to other Polyglycolics Acids), the user can utilize it according to the surgical circumstances and his/her own experience.

RAW MATERIAL: Coated homopolymer of Glycolic Acid.
DYE: Violet-Violet No. 2 FDC, Beige-Colorless.
STERILIZATION METHOD: Ethylene Oxide.
COATING: Polycaprolactone and Calcium Stereate.
PRESENTATION: Box with 12 sutures with one or two needles, gages 2 to 8-0.
Box with 12 pre-cut sutures, without needle, gages 2 to 3-0.
EXPIRATION DATE: 3 years as of sterilization date.
